10 Helpful Things to Know

A little more information to help you feel informed and comfortable as you consider getting started

 

1.  What can online therapy help me with?

Virtual therapy can provide support support for anxiety, stress, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, ADHD, autism, major life changes, and times when life simply feels overwhelming. You don't need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to reach out for support.

 

2.  How does virtual therapy work?

I provide virtual therapy to clients throughout Ontario through secure video sessions or by telephone. You can attend from a private, comfortable location and choose the option that feels most comfortable to you.

 

3.  What happens during the free 15-minute consultation?

The free 15-minute telephone consultation is a chance to breifly tell me what you're looking for, ask questions, and learn a little more about how I work. It also gives us an opportunity to see shether working together feels like a good fit, with no pressure to book a therapy session afterward.

 

4.  What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first therapy session givues us time to get to know one another and talk about what has brought you to therapy. We can discuss what's been difficult, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to get from our work together. You can share at a pace that feels comfortble for you.

 

5.  Do I need a referral or diagnosis to start therapy? 

No. You can contact me directly to book a free consultation or therapy appointment, and you do not need a medical referral or diagnosis to begin. If you plan to use insurance benefits, it's a good idea to check whether your individual plan has any specific requirements. Some insurance companies require a Doctor referral to be eligable for coverage.

 

6.  How much does therapy cost?

A 60-minute individual therapy session is $160.00, and a 90-minute session is $220.00. I also offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation if you'd like to ask questions before deciding whether to book a session.

 

7.  Is therapy with a Registered Social Worker covered by insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for services provided by a Registered Social Worker, but coverage varies between plans. I provide receipts that you can submit to your isurance provider, and I recommend checking your individual benefits to confirm your coverage.

 

8.  How often will I need therapy sessions?

There is no single schedule that works for everyone. How often we meet can depend on what brings you to therapy, your goals, your preferences, your availability, and practical considerations such as cost. We can discuss what feels manageable and useful for you and adjust the frequency over time.

 

9. Is online therapy private and confidential?

Yes. I take your privacy and confidentiality seriously and use secure systems for virtual therapy and client information. Because sessions take place remotely, I also encourage you to choose a private location where you feel comfortable speaking openly.

 

10. How do I book an online therapy appointment?

You can begin by booking a free 15-minute telephone consultation or, if you're ready to get started, book a therapy appointment online. Virtual therapy is available to clients located in Ontario, and appointments can take place by secure video or telephone.
